Prophet intoxicates married woman before raping her

A 32-year-old woman has accused a self-styled prophet, operating in Harare and Chegutu, of allegedly drugging and rap_ing her on two occasions in 2017 and 2019.

In a statement posted on its Twitter account, the police urged members of the public to promptly report all cases of abuse.

“On 12/01/22, police in Harare recorded a case of rap_e in which a woman (32) was rap_ed by a self- proclaimed prophet, on two separate occasions, in 2017 and May 2019, in Chegutu and Harare,” the police said.

“In the first incident, the suspect put an intoxicating substance into a Raspberry drink, made the victim to consume it and rap_ed her.

“In the second incident the suspect took advantage of the absence of the victim’s husband and rap_ed her once.”

The police is also investigating a case of armed robbery, which occurred on January 14 at Maphisa, Kezi, Matabeleland South, in which six unknown male adults, armed with an AK47 rifle, a 9mm star pistol and an okapi knife, pounced at a house and robbed a married couple of their R29 000 and US$1 000 cash, 1,150kgs of gold bullion valued at US$78 280, a 9mm pistol and a Toyota Wish motor vehicle.

The suspects went on to kidnap the victims’ employee, a man aged 25, whom they later dumped in Bulawayo.

Police in Chiadzwa, Manicaland, arrested two female suspects, aged 25 and 35, in connection with a case of illegal possession of dangerous drugs.

The suspects, who were passengers in a Harare-bound bus travelling from Chipinge, were arrested at a police checkpoint at Hotsprings, Mutare.
