Another nocturnal abduction hits MDC as State turns berserk
MDC Alliance party’s Secretary for Security and Defence for Mkoba District Tamuka Denhere who was abducted on Wednesday has been found at Harare Central Police Station.
The party initially reported about his missing on Wednesday saying he had been abducted by state security agents.
MDC Alliance posted on Twitter:
MDC Alliance Mkoba District Secretary for Security and Defence, Tamuka Denhere has just been abducted by state agents. His whereabouts are currently unknown. Please RETWEET for awareness.
In an update posted this Thursday, the party indicated that Denhere was not yet found. Reads the update:
We are still unable to establish the whereabouts of Tamuka Denhere who was abducted by suspected state agents yesterday in Mkoba. We demand his immediate release. Security of person and freedom of torture are Constitutional rights.
His alleged abduction comes after a spate of kidnappings and torture of opposition activists and human rights defenders or government critics in general.
However the Party’s Secretary General Charlton Hwende announced later on Thursday that Denhere was found at Harare Central Police Station.
This is happening when an envoy by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa which was sent to Zimbabwe at the backdrop of human rights violations reports has snubbed the opposition.
Although authorities are denying reports abuses, the international community has urged the Harare administration to uphold human rights enshrined in the constitution.
