Muchinguri fighting the ‘West’s punishment from God’
By Tawanda Sibanda HARARE — When defence minister Oppah Muchinguri claimed a few months ago that Covid-19 was western countries’ punishment from God, little did she know she would herself be fighting for her life afflicted by the same scourge. Now, if unverified reports are anything to go by, Muchinguri, secretary for the finance ministry George Guvamatanga, mines minister Winston Chitando and his predecessor Obert Mpofu are all down with Covid-19. Muchinguri’s daughter from her previous marriage, Tanya Rozina Rushesha, revealed this week she had recovered from the virus after struggling to shake it off for close to a month. So far, coronavirus has claimed one high-profile figure in President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s governnent — agriculture minister Perrance Shiri. He died on Tuesday after burying his bodyguard and personal driver in Zvimba the previous Sunday, who also succumbed to the deadly virus. The world pandemic has also claimed the life of defence forces spokesman Overson “45 degrees” Mugwisi, infamous for claiming a soldier filmed gunning down fleeing and unarmed civillians in central Harare in 2018 could not have killed them as his gun was pointed upwards. He died on Thursday night and is yet to be buried. Since the outbreak of the pandemic on March 20, Zimbabwe has recorded 3 169 confirmed cases, 1 004 recoveries and 67 deaths. — ZW News.ReplyForward |
