Parents of murdered boy break their silence
The family of Tapiwa Makore, a 7-year-old Murewa boy who was recently murdered, allegedly for rituals, is in disbelief that a family member would assist in the murder of their child.
This comes after the boy’s uncle also called Tapiwa Makore has been arrested after it emerged that he and his accomplice Tafadzwa Shamba murdered the boy.
Tapiwa’s mother, Ms Munyori broke down narrating to ZBC News how her brother-in-law had harassed her threatening to beat her up at the funeral for failing to account for the boy. She said:
He once threatened to beat me up, accusing me of being irresponsible and failing to account for my missing son. You can even ask my husband and other relatives who heard him threatening me, but to my surprise he is the one who was picked up by the police for murder.
Tapiwa’s father failed to come to terms with the fact that his brother, whom he named his son after, could even think of harming the boy. He said:
It’s difficult to believe that my own brother who had been with me throughout the search and funeral, turned out to be a suspect in the murder case. We were together on Thursday night (September 24) searching for my son. He would strengthen me, with words of hope that the boy could be alive somewhere.
The family also indicated that the dates for the burial of Tapiwa’s remains will be known after the attainment of DNA tests results which are expected between two and three weeks.
