Here are the new driver’s licence fees in Zimbabwe for December 2020
Motorists and prospective motorists across Zimbabwe will not be too pleased to learn that the government has reviewed driver’s licence fees upwards. The review was made by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Joel Biggie Matiza through Statutory Instrument 295 of 2020.
Here is Statutory Instrument 295 of 2020 which outlines the new driver’s licence and other related fees for motorists in Zimbabwe:
IT is hereby notified that the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development has, in terms of section 81 of the Road Traffic Act [Chapter 13:11], made the following regulations:—
1. These regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) (Amendment) Regulations, 2019 (No. 33).
2. Section 12 of the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) Regulations, 1977, published in Rhodesia Government Notice No. 240 of 1997, is hereby repealed and substituted with the following—“Prescribed fees
(1) A person applying in terms of section 8(2)(b) or (3) of the Act to an issuing officer for a tractor driver’s permit or duplicate tractor driver’s permit shall transmit with his or her application a fee of four hundred Zimbabwean dollars (ZWL$400,00).
(2) The fee to be remitted to the Registrar by a farmer or miner or his or her manager or a registering officer in terms of section 8(5) of the Act, shall be a fee of four hundred Zimbabwean dollars (ZWL$400,00).
(3) A person applying in terms of section 9(1) of the Act to an examiner for a learner’s licence shall transmit with his or her application a fee of one thousand Zimbabwean dollars (ZWL$1 000,00) for testing the applicant.
(4) A person applying in terms of section 10(1) of the Act to an examiner for a Certificate of Competency shall transmit—
(a) with his or her application a fee for testing the applicant in respect of a Certificate of Competency for—(i) class 3 or 4 vehicles of one thousand seven hundred Zimbabwean dollars (ZWL$1 700,00);
(ii) class 1, class 2 or class 5 vehicles a fee of two thousand one hundred Zimbabwean dollars
(ZWL$2 100,00);(b) upon the successful completion of the test, a fee of one thousand two hundred Zimbabwean dollars (ZWL$1 200,00).
(5) A person applying in terms of section 14(1) of the Act to the Registrar shall transmit with his or her application for—(a) a duplicate learner’s licence, a fee of one thousand two hundred Zimbabwean dollars (ZWL$1 200,00);
(b) an international driver’s permit, a fee of eight thousand three hundred Zimbabwean dollars (ZWL$8 300,00);
(c) search fees, a fee of four hundred Zimbabwean dollars (ZWL$400,00).(6) An examiner receiving a fee referred to in subsection (3) or (4) shall issue to the applicant a receipt in form R.T.L.D. 8.
(7) A person applying in terms of section 19(1) of the Act to the Registrar for a driver’s licence shall transmit with his or her application, a fee of eight thousand three hundred Zimbabwean dollars (ZWL$8 300,00).”.3. The Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) (Amendment) Regulations, 2019 (No. 32), published in Statutory Instrument 173 of 2019, are repealed.
