Zimbabwe couple and their baby crossing a flooded river on tubes to run away from poverty
Pictures of Zimbabwean man and his wife crossing illegally into South Africa with a baby through the river has left many in tears.
Usually social media users criticize these people crossing the border illegally, but the photo of a baby also going through the river with the parents attracted much sympathy.
The couple were crossing the river using tubes, the wife had a suitcase and a handbag on her own tube, while her husband was carrying the baby on another tube.
Foreign Editor for SABC, Sophie Mokeona after seeing the photos slammed the Zimbabwean president Emmerson Mnangagwa and said the world is watching how Zimbabweans are suffering under his leadership.
“President Emmerson Mnangagwa this picture speaks to the challenge you are facing. The world is watching. I hope when you come back from the holiday next month you will attend to this issue,” said Mokeona.
Sophie Mokeona also adds that no leader should be proud of those pictures.
Emmerson Mnangagwa is currently on leave and his vice president Constantine Chiwenga is currently carrying out the duties.
