Men are being sexually abused by wives
The Fathers Against Abuse organisation has claimed that a lot of men are being abused sexually in their marriages. According to the organisation, many men are suffering in silence as they fear ridicule from society if they speak out.
Speaking to local publication, B-Metro, Alois Nyamazana, the co-founder of the Fathers Against Abuse said cases of men being abused are not taken seriously by society. Thus most abused men tend to remain quiet to avoid the stigma and ridicule from society.
Highlighting some of the cases he has encountered, Nyamazana said,
“There is a case I came across whereby a woman was hyper sexually active and so her husband ended up being sexually abused because she would follow him to work just to have sex. He had no choice but to end up sharing his predicament.
“There are also some women who use sexual enhancement drugs and that ends up putting pressure on the men to deliver sexually.”
Nyamazana compared how society responds to cases of men being abused against ow it responds when women are abused,
“…in our patriarchal society, if a boy child is sexually abused, it’s just normalised. There is also just shame and stigma attached to the boy child and men who are sexually abused.
“Also, sexual abuse against men and boys is normally just described as aggravated assault by the law but if a girl or woman has been abused it’s called rape…If a man is raped instead of saying indecent assault why don’t we just say it’s rape because the terms used to describe men who have been raped lessens the weight of the case,” said Nyamazana.
The co-founder of Fathers Against Abuse called on Parliament to standardize all laws to ensure equitable justice for all victims of abuse,
“What we also want is standardisation of the law and we are continuously working with Parliament to make sure the law is standardised,” added Nyamazana.
