Wife demands US$50,000 from a family member for snatching her husband
A disgruntled Harare woman is demanding US$50k damages from a family friend who allegedly snatched her husband.
The plaintiff, Marvelous Marufu is suing the defendant Ratidzo Nyamuchengwa for the loss of her spouse, humiliation, pain and suffering.”
ZimLive reports that in her summons, Marufu revealed that she and her husband Albert Mhondoro upgraded their customary law union into a monogamous civil marriage on March 19, 2018.
She argued that all along Nyamuchengetwa was aware of the fact that Mhondoro was married as they invited her along with several workmates from a company that distributes beauty products to their wedding.
“At all material times the defendant was aware of the marital status of plaintiff’s husband and moreover she would visit plaintiff’s home, sometimes in the company of her husband Terrence Mawire, such that they eventually became family friends,” reads her summons.
Marufu added that on their wedding day, the defendant even purchased a wedding gift for them.
She claims that she only unearthed her husband’s adulterous affair with Nyamuchengwa after she overheard him on the phone professing love for her.
Through her lawyers, Marufu says she has lost love, affection and companionship of her husband after he moved out of their matrimonial home on December 26, 2020.
Her husband is reportedly now cohabitating with Nyamuchengwa, who has also ditched her husband Mawire.
As a result of Nyamuchengwa’s adultery with her husband, Marufu, through her lawsuit, revealed that she has suffered damages as follows: loss of consortium, comfort, companionship of her spouse in the sum of US$30,000 and contumelia in the sum of US$20,000.
