Mwonzora and Khupe on each other’s throats over the heart and soul of MDC-T
Khupe and Mwonzora
Violence broke out between supporters of MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora and his party’s parliamentary head, Thokozani Khupe on Thursday afternoon.
Khupe’s personal bodyguard Kudzanai Mashumba was brutally assaulted when he attempted to address a Press Conference at the Media Centre. The media briefing was designed to denigrate Mwonzora which prompted his supporters to pounce at Mashumba. It is however not clear what exactly Mashumba wanted to announce.
Trouble for Mashumba started when Mwonzora’s top aide, Yvonne Musarurwa stormed the meeting room and started yelling at Mashumba.
“Who sent you to hold this press conference?” asked Musarurwa as she literally manhandles Mashumba. She pulled him by his collar sending him to ground as few claps rain on his face from other supporters of Mwonzora. Musarurwa shouted that Mashumba, was not a member of the party and had no authority whatsoever to address the media on behalf of MDC-T.
Mashumba took to his heels before jumping at the back of a moving truck to escape as a horde of youth members charging at him with clear intentions to give him a thorough beating.
