Video: ED doesn’t drink beer comrades: Herbert Nkala
Chairman of the ED Trust for indigent brilliant kids between Zambia and Zimbabwe Herbert Nkala
Chairman of the ED Trust for indigent brilliant kids between Zambia and Zimbabwe Herbert Nkala has dismissed claims that President Emmerson Mnangagwa was drunk during a fundraising dinner as a creation of the exiled Jonathan Moyo’s imagination. Nkala maintained that President Mnangagwa does not drink alcohol a decision he made during the war to avoid compromising his judgements.
“Anyone who knows him will know that trait, value and virtue. Jonathan would know this as common cause and is being silly,” reads part of Nkala’s statement.
The drunk allegations arose after a video of President Mnangagwa being assisted to walk to the podium went viral on social media prompting some people to conclude that he was sloshed out of his skull by whisky.
Zimbabwe Observer presents Nkala’s point form statement below:
The toxicity of Social media has reached unprecedented levels of decay decay.
1) I sat next to HE all evening. He didn’t touch a drop of alcohol.
2) The story about his tie is simple: his scarf and tie were auctioned for $35 k during this fundraising dinner. In gest, the MC, Gary Thompson, took a tie from some white guest and gave it to HE who loosely put it around his shoulders.
3) This was an amazing gesture of philanthropy by HE where around us$800k was raised for indigent students. This is changing people’s lives.
4) There are desperate criminal minds out there who are angry with themselves and will demonize everything to feel better about themselves.
5) To hell with them.
