Excitement grips Dangamvura-Chikanga as Patriotic Zimbabweans star candidate Hosiah Chipanga kicks-off campaign trail
The Lion of Manicaland, Hosiah Chipanga has roared into the world of politics by throwing his hat in the ring to contest in Dangamvura-Chikanga constituency on Patriotic Zimbabweans Party (PZ) ticket.
PZ fever gripped Mutare’s Dangamvura-Chikanga area soon after Chipanga’s campaign posters started circulating on social media.
Top on his campaign manifesto is his desire to improve the quality of life for the residents of Dangamvura and Chikanga where he spent most of his adult life as a full-time singer.
The lyrically gifted Kwachu kwachu Muso told Zimbabwe Observer that he shall be using the mic for both politics and music.
“Infact I haven’t hanged the mic yet,” said PZ’s Star candidate.
This time the Vatsigiri Vangu musician shall be hitting public stages in Dangamvura, articulating people’s challenges and solutions, not singing and dancing. The aspiring MP has not yet started campaigning but excited residents of Dangamvura are already referring to him as their honourable MP.
“Honourable Chipanga should come to our inboxes and homes to reveal what he has instore for us. We can’t wait to hear from him,” reads part of the social media posts from one resident of Dangamvura, Sigauke.
Another one who identified himself as Solo from Chikanga reads: “Chipanga needs no campaign at all, we all know him. All we need is his name on the ballot paper under the PZ ticket.”
Responding to Solo’s post one Mai Mune said: ”We are tired of MDC now CCC’s decades long promises that were never fulfilled. PZ is the new deal in Dangamvura.”
Chipanga said his love for the people and desire to provide clean water to all families forced him to join politics.
“If elected, I would start by tackling the water problem since water is life. I would want to make sure that every family has water, and no-one should for any reason be denied access to water even if it would mean using my own pocket,” said Chipanga.
He continued: “The worst and inhuman treatment of citizens by our city fathers is through disconnections of water on those who would fail to pay. My heart bleeds on seeing such evil happening on our God given land.
Explaining why he joined PZ, Chipanga said he joined other patriots because most members of other political parties of Zimbabwe love their parties more than the country.
“So as a patriot I chose to join other patriots in Patriotic Zimbabweans party since we share the same element of love for our country. Unlike other political parties including the ruling, they love their parties more than the country itself,” roared the Nyamutata hitmaker.
Chipanga made his name through comic and satirical lyrics that focus on social and political commentary. His music is a rare display of his understanding of problems that are bedeviling Zimbabwe Communities.
PZ President Charles Mutama hailed Chipanga as a community anchored man whose music is a testimony to his love for his fellow Patriots.
“In Chipanga, PZ has a sincere representative in Dangamvura-Chikanga where he has been deployed to push the agenda of equal opportunities to all members of his constituency,” said Mutama.
PZ Organising Secretary Pishai Muchauraya vowed to give Chipanga all the necessary support to snatch the Constituency from CCC’s prosper Mutseyami.
“We expect to do well in Dangamvura-Chikanga because we are the only alternative to the previous Party that held the constituency for years without much improvement to people’s lives,” said Muchauraya, a former MDC MP.
