CCC supporter dies in spear attack during Kwekwe rally
SPEARED: A victim of a spear attack at CCC rally in Kwekwe
A Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) is reported to have died following a spear attack by suspected ZANU PF activists in Kwekwe yesterday.
CCC spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said the deceased (name withheld) stabbed with a spear and died from the injury.
Mahere tweeted:
Sadly, one person has suffered fatal injuries at the #YellowKwekwe where ZANU PF unleashed an orgy of violence in the middle of President Chamisa’s speech.
The deceased (name withheld) was pierced in the side. The ZANU PF thug used a spear. Rest In Peace.
Unknown assailants armed with machetes and stones stormed a CCC campaign rally at Mbizo 4 Shopping Centre and interrupted the party’s president Nelson Chamisa’s speech.
Chamisa calmly told party supporters not to run away. The CCC youths swiftly fought back and subdued the attackers.
This incident comes a day after Vice President Constantino Chiwenga said it’s a matter of time before ZANU PF crushes the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) “like lice” to prevent the opposition party from winning elections and attaining control of the State.
Chiwenga made the remarks while addressing ZANU PF supporters at a campaign rally in Kwekwe at Mbizo Stadium on Saturday.
In St. Mary’s suspected Zanu PF youths petrol bombed a CCC tent pitched at a venue of a campaign rally which took place yesterday. Police disrupted another Chamisa rally in Gokwe in Saturday.
