Herman Mashaba and Nhlanhla Dlamini not welcome in SADC countries
..Citizen arrest and private prosecution for inciting violence are being considered
Various Human Rights organisations operating in Africa are working towards effecting citizens’ arrest and private prosecution of ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba for publicly inciting xenophobic killings in South Africa.
Various civic organisations with a presence in all SADC countries also resolved to stage public protests at airports whenever Mashaba visits any African country.
The former Johannesburg Mayor touched the raw Africa nerve by publicly spewing hatred of black foreigners. During his tenure as Joburg Mayor, Mashaba instructed Joburg Metro police to round up foreigners even though his local authority lacked constitutional mandate to do so.
Only Home Affairs has the mandate to handle immigration matters.
The recent brutal killing of a Zimbabwean, Elvis Nyathi by members of a vigilant group Dudula infuriated black communities across Africa.
Nyathi was necklaced and bludgeoned to death in-front of a cheering crowd in Johannesburg’s populous informal settlement of Diepsloot.
“Mashaba is not welcome in Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Lesotho, Swaziland, Uganda, Nigeria and Cameroon, since he is sponsoring a vigilante group called Dudula to kill blacks in South Africa,” said Tawanda Wananava, spokesman of Zimbabwe Refugees Forum (ZRF)
Wamanava accused the self confessed xenophobic Mashaba of having blood of the butchered Zimbabwean Elvis Nyathi in his hands.
“Mashaba can’t take blacks for fools by trying to hide behind a finger. We know that he is fuelling killings of black people by other blacks in the name of cleansing South Africa of illegal immigrants. And his aim is to get State power in 2024 elections by spilling blood of our African brothers,” said Wananama.
Wamanava said the majority of South Africans managed to see through Mashaba’s bloody and ugly treachery.
Dr. Janet Maunakamwe of Kopanang Africa against xenophobia said Mashaba and Dudula leader Nhlanhla Lux Dlamini share atrocities being committed by the vigilante group that is going around Mzansi killing foreigners.
A Nigerian immigration Organisation, Borderless Africa described Mashaba as an ‘Africa misfit’ with a lot of self-hate.
Said the Chairman of Borderless Africa, Femi Ojoro: “Mashaba hates what he sees each time he gets in front of the mirror. His self-hate is manifested in the xenophobic statements he utters against his fellow black brother.”
He continues: “Let him step into Nigeria and he will taste the bitterness of his own medicine.”
A leader of Zambian Community staying in South Africa, Kujo Mwimbai, said it was ironic that Mashaba who made millions by pushing hair products to African markets through his Black like me campaign phrase detests the people who fattened his pocket.
“I think black people must start boycotting Mashaba’s hair products and any other products that his companies are making,” said Mwimbai.
Mashaba did not respond to questions sent to him by Zimbabwe Observer.
Harmony among black communities has been elusive in South Africa for a long time as locals view foreigners as snatchers of their jobs, business opportunities and women.
