CCC Says ZANU PF has trained agents to Infiltrate its structures
The opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) led by Nelson Chamisa has claimed to have received reports saying the ruling ZANU PF is planning to infiltrate its structures.
The party’s Masvingo branch says ZANU PF has since trained its agents who will be deployed to cause confusion in the opposition party. Read the Twitter messages by the party:
We have received information that @ZANUPFOfficial has already had a training workshop in Gweru where they trained their informers who shall work closely with CIOs to gather & spread information in each ward. These individuals were trained in Gweru by the military & CIO to intimidate @CCCZimbabwe supporters in Rural Wards they also report every day to District Intelligence Officers. In places like Bikita, Gutu and Chiredzi they have deployed 2 per each ward. That why @ZANUPFOfficial are pushing for structures so these guys be used to cause Confusion within the structures.
The party added that the reports were proof that President Emmerson Mnangagwa was having sleepless nights plotting on how to contain Nelson Chamisa instead of channelling his energy toward fighting corruption in the country.
The reports are made as the country gears for the elections scheduled for 2023. President Mnangagwa and Chamisa, a former Minister of ICT Postal and Courier Services are the major contenders.
The duo locked contested the 2018 presidential elections in which President Mnangagwa was declared the winner despite Chamisa contesting the outcome. He claimed that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), in connivance with ZANU PF, had manipulated results in favour of Mnangagwa.
CCC argues that it does not have “visible” structures to foolproof itself against infiltration.
