Nduna ‘controversially’ acquires a UZ Law degree

The ex-legislator’s accomplishment was shrouded in controversy amid taunts by a social media troll suggesting the Zanu PF Central Committee member forced himself among graduands when, infact, he had failed some modules.
A social media user going by the name Cde Andrew Maimba sparked the controversy with his unsavoury post.
“Vanombozvida here ma lecturer epa UZ munhu anoti kana afoira ovavhunditsira achiti ndiri we Zanu PF.
“Hon Dexter Nduna Chegutu West today decided to get a gown from the street and wore it to make believe. He is not on the list of graduands from the faculty of law coz akafoira foira ma modules hobho hobho,” Maimba posted.
Reached for comment by NewZimbabwe.com, Nduna described his critic as a “mad man.”
Nduna went on to share a receipt for payment for his graduation gown which was exclusively bought from the institution upon confirmation the politician was among the list of graduating students.
Meanwhile, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who is Chancellor of all State universities, conferred degrees to 6 778 graduands, with the cohort becoming the first products of the Second Republic’s Heritage-Based Education 5.0 launched in 2020.
In his address at the varsity’s 43rd graduation, UZ Vice Chancellor Professor Paul Mapfumo said event was special as it marked the first batch of graduates of the Heritage-based Education 5.0 philosophy.
“This marks the full cycle of implementation of the new programmes, which you launched in December 2020. Congratulations,” said Mapfumo.
Also, among the graduands were Buhera West legislator, Tafadzwa Mugwadi, who graduated with a law degree and National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) board chairman Michael Madiro, who graduated with a Master of Laws degree in Commercial Law.
