The founder and leader of Vapositori VaJesu Apostolic Sect, the late Bishop Abisha Murimba who made headlines recently after fights had erupted amongst his family members concerning his place of burial was laid to rest in Rusape.
The Late Bishop Murimba’s funeral was filled with drama as his wives fought to take control of the proceedings.
The decision to bury him in Rusape at a plot he stayed with his second wife was against the first wife, his children and siblings’ wishes who preferred to have him buried at his Marange home in Chegore Village.
The battle had spilled into the courts with the late bishop’s sons arguing that their father wished to be buried in Marange as per family tradition.
The magistrate who presided over the matter at Rusape Civil Court, Mr Gift Manyika ruled that the court had no jurisdiction over such cases since the Bishop’s second wife was already in possession of a burial order. The matter was dismissed with cost.
While contemplating rushing to file a High Court interdict, the bishop’s second wife and her children went on to collect the late man of cloth’s body at Rusape General Hospital and proceeded to bury him. This led the Murimba family to boycott the funeral proceedings.
It is believed that the late bishop had abandoned his Marange home in 1987 over irreconcilable differences with his wife.
