Zimbabwe opposition leaders Job Sikhala and Jacob Ngarivhume have vehemently denied accusations of organizing funded demonstrations during the SADC Summit.

In a joint statement to the Zimbabwe Observer, Sikhala, the leader of the National Democratic Working Group (NDWG), and Ngarivhume, president of Transform Zimbabwe, distanced themselves from any impending protests.

The duo refuted claims of coordinating such protests, emphasizing their lack of involvement in organizing demonstrations presently.

“We repeat once more again, there are no demonstrations we are organizing,” stated the opposition leaders.

They expressed surprise at intelligence suggesting possible government plans to arrest them based on misinformation circulating on social media.

Sikhala and Ngarivhume condemned what they perceive as a deliberate attempt by the regime to fabricate lies and target them unfairly, emphasizing their commitment to peaceful opposition within the bounds of the law.

“It is our country, and we have no other home. Manufacturing lies against opponents seems to be the regime’s modus operandi,” remarked Sikhala and Ngarivhume, highlighting the government’s history of levying false accusations against them.

The opposition leaders urged authorities to address any issues directly rather than resorting to deceptive tactics.

They expressed readiness to confront and address any new accusations head-on, maintaining their dedication to advocating for change through lawful and peaceful means.

Sikhala and Ngarivhume have faced unjust imprisonment in the past, with Sikhala enduring 595 days in jail without trial or conviction
