Wife stabs hubby twice over a $30 dispute
A man from Bulawayo is lucky to be alive after he was stabbed twice with a kitchen knife by his wife over a ZWL $30 dispute.
Tholakele Nyathi from Iminyela suburb was arrested after she stabbed her husband Thabisani Ndlovu (28) for questioning her on why she used the ZWL $30 money meant to buy vegetables to buy a candle.
Nyathi is expected to appear in court soon.
Narrating the incident to a local publication, Ndlovu who is a security guard revealed that when he came home after 7.30 pm last week on Friday, his wife asked him for money to buy vegetables.
Ndlovu told her to take the $30 he gave her in the morning to buy vegetables, but Tholakele told him that she used the money to buy a candle.
After that, an argument broke out as Ndlovu questioned her wife why she bought a candle instead of buying vegetables.
Nyathi got angry and started to accuse him of ill-treating her. As the altercation escalated, Nyathi is alleged to have ran to the kitchen and fetched a kitchen knife which she used to stab her hubby once on the left armpit and once on the waist.
His neighbor Mqondisi Sibanda who heard the noise coming from the house went to Ndlovu’s house to inquire and found him on the floor writhing in pain as he bled profusely. Sibanda immediately called Ndlovu’s brother, Mgcini who quickly came and bandaged him. After that, he phoned an ambulance which ferried him to Mpilo Central Hospital.
According to B-Metro, Ndlovu was admitted to Ward A2 and has since been discharged as his condition is improving.
Following his near-death experience, Ndlovu said despite what his wife did to him, he forgave her for the sake of their three children. He added that he does not blame his wife for what she did rather he is going to take the incident as a mistake as he knows that his wife is naturally cheeky.
Meanwhile, Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube urged members of the public to desist from fighting over trivial matters and learn to live in harmony with each other.
