Zanu PF behaves like terrorists, not MDC A, Biti

MDC Alliance Vice President Tendai Biti has accused Zanu PF of exhibiting tendencies of a terrorist organisation.
Biti made the utterance today in Harare while responding to ZANU PF’s Acting Spokesperson Patrick Chinamasa, who described the MDC as a terrorist party. Addressing journalists in Harare, Biti said ZANU PF has all the markings of a “terrorist organisation” adding that the ruling party was still to account for Itai Dzamara’s whereabouts, who was abducted in broad daylight by gunmen. He also said the recent abduction, torture and sexual abuse of MDC’s three women was undisputed display of Zanu PF colours.
Biti told journalists that his party eschewed violence since its formation in 1999 and sought peaceful democratic change. He said: “We are concerned about the deepening human rights crisis and the labelling of our party as a terrorist organisation by Chinamasa. The attempt by Zanu PF to liquidate our party is regrettable. We’ve remained loyal to the value of democratic change.”
The Harare top layer added that his party remain loyal to the value of peaceful transformation of our nation adding that MDC A was committed to the need for a sincere dialogue to restore social contract despite the increased political temperature.
Biti threw MDC A’s tacit support for the 31 July public protest against corruption. “ MDC Alliance fully supports citizens who have planned anti-corruption protests for July 31st, saying it is a constitutional right for Zimbabweans to demonstrate peacefully,” said the tough talking Biti.
He also demanded the release of prominent journalist Hopewell Chin’ono and opposition activist Jacob Ngarivhume who were both denied bail on charges of inciting public violence.
