Khupe recalls five MDC A Marondera councillors

The MDC-T led by Thokozani Khupe has recalled five MDC Alliance councillors in Marondera. These are:
- Velela Size of Ward 11
- Ngwenya Charles of Ward 4
- Sirira Wonder of Ward 6
- Murova Chengetai of Ward 1
- Manyere Misheck of Ward 5
This follows the expulsion of 11 Harare councillors, 3 councillors in Beitbridge, including mayor Morgan Ncube, 8 from Bulawayo and also the Gwanda mayor.
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has said the elections to fill the vacant seats will be on 5 December.
MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere said the recalls were illegal and meant to subvert the will of the people. She said:
We believe in the inviolability of people’s votes and strongly condemn the attempt to subvert the will of the people through elite pacts and the imposition of a surrogate opposition.
