Mwonzora dismisses MDC A as a G40 puppet
MDC-T secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora, who is vying for the presidency at the party’s Supreme Court ordered extraordinary congress set 19 December, said MDC Alliance leaders are puppets of a ZANU PF faction.
Addressing journalists at the Bulawayo Media Centre on Monday, Mwonzora claimed that Nelson Chamisa and the MDC Alliance leadership have been captured by elements of ZANU PF’s Generation 40 (G40) faction.
Mwonzora cited the case of Tendai Masotsha, former MDC Alliance chairperson of the women’s assembly in Bulawayo who was expelled from the party for her alleged involvement in the abduction of Tawanda Muchehiwa as proof that his erstwhile colleagues are G40 minions. He said:
G40 has even said to members of the MDC-T that they must not vote for Mwonzora. Jonathan Moyo has tweeted to that effect yet he is not a member of our party and so on.
The G40 told MDC Alliance to suspend one of their officials here in Bulawayo and she was suspended.
An investigation was done and she was found not guilty by some body but the G40 said that was not enough, ‘she should be fired’ and she was fired.
Now when you have a party, which is a puppet of a segment of a political party then that is too bad.
Masotsha was initially exonerated by a tribunal that had been set up by the MDC Alliance but was subsequently sacked after she allegedly attempted to blackmail a member of the tribunal as well as Muchehiwa.
