Former MP Given US$40 As Terminal Benefits
Former MDC Alliance legislator for Marondera Central, Caston Matewu has said he was paid an equivalent of US$40 as terminal benefits.
Matewu was recalled from Parliament in October 2020 by the MDC-T then led by Thokozani Khupe.
Matewu posted a copy of a letter from the Public Service Commission which notified him of the payment of his terminal benefits. Before attaching the copy of the letter, he said:
My terminal benefits from Parliament of Zimbabwe. Equivalent to US$40
The letter from PSC read:
Please be advised that following the termination of your service on 01 October 202o from the Parliament Of Zimbabwe you are entitled in terms of Public Service Pension Regulations 1992 as amended to the following pensions benefits:
- Refund of Pension contributions paid:……………….6, 838.76
- Add Interest……………………………………………………….261.64
- ……………………………………………………………………………..7, 100.40
- Add Gratuity………………………………………………………24, 522.73
- Total……………………………………………………………………..31, 623.13
- Less Government Debt………………………………………(25,332.75)
- Net Amount Payable to you……………………………….6,290.38
The above amount will be payable to your AGRIBANK account in July 2021.
