Mermaid cult grips young women craving for lavish lifestyles
The Manjuzu cult is reportedly spreading across the country like a veld fire, with the movement growing popular among young women desperate for good fortunes in life.
Manjuzu is believed to be a mermaid spirit that endows its worshippers with wealth and a good life.
While many people believe that being initiated into the manjuzu cult in return for a prosperous lavish life comes with a curse if one breaks the rules, Caroline Mhenza, a Manjuzu based in Chitungwiza, said things have been excellent since her initiation. She said:

He added that the mermaid gives the victims wealth for a short period before taking it away. He said:
