Shock as pastor grabs congregant’s house as reward for praying for his mentally-challenged child
A GLEN NORAH pastor is being accused of grabbing a house as reward for praying for a congregant’s child who was mentally ill, sometime in 2013.
Godfrey Chivasa, who claims ownership of the house, approached the Harare Civil Court seeking a peace order against the pastor.
He said the pastor was now verbally abusing them over their house. Theresa Ndambakwa and Everjoy Chivasa are the second and third applicants seeking a peace order against the pastor, Brian Muzenda, Nyarai Masimbi, Mary and Mathew Muzenda.
Chivasa said Muzenda wanted a house from him, as a token of appreciation, for praying for his child.
“His wife Nyarai is always insulting me through the phone about that house and l have the messages. He is mobilising church members and members of our community to fight me and my family over our house.”
The Chivasa family claims to have helped the pastor, and his family, when they didn’t have a place to stay, nine years ago.
Chivasa claimed the Muzendas had now started to build their church at that house and they are also letting some of the rooms to church congregants.
“We gave them our house for them to stay temporarily until they were financially stable.
“Brian now calls me threatening me because we need our house back,” said Ndambakwa. Everjoy said the pastor wanted his support in his bid to grab his parents’ house.
Muzenda dismissed the allegations.
“These are all lies and l have never insulted them,” he said. “I never mobilised any church members to attack them.
“The Chivasas are not the rightful owners of that house.”
Muzenda was ordered by the court to produce the title deeds but he did not have them.
Magistrate Sharon Mashavire ordered the Muzendas to maintain peace and not to bar the Chivasa family from coming to its house.
