Gospel singer Deborah Fraser passes away after short illness
Popular gospel singer Deborah Fraser has passed away after a “short illness”.
A terse statement from her family said: “It is with deep sadness to inform you of the passing of our beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend and gospel musician, Deborah Fraser following a short illness.”
Deborah died at midday on Sunday in the presence of her family and friends.
The Abanye Bayombona hitmaker was 56.
During her illustrious career Deborah won the first SABC Crown Gospel Music award in the Best Female Artist category, SAMA award for best gospel, Metro award for best gospel, and Kora for best gospel artist.
The family has asked to be “given space to process and deal with this very tragic situation”.
