Marry Mubaiwa, the bed ridden estranged wife of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga was due for a hand amputation on the day she was issued with a warrant of arrest for failing to go up the steps to attend her court case.

Mubaiwa’s lawyer Advocate Beatrice Mtetwa told Zimbabwe Observer, that the amputation was shelved after the family refused to sign consent forms preferring to seek a second opinion first.

“She was scheduled for an amputation yesterday, but her family refused to sign before they have a second opinion,” said Mtetwa in an exclusive interview with Zimbabwe Observer.

Mtetwa confirmed that a video of a decomposing hand with flesh falling off and exposing bones, which went viral on social media, belongs to the mother of the Vice President’s children.

A Harare Magistrate Florence Chakanyuka issued a warrant of arrest for the seriously ill Mubaiwa yesterday as she rests in the car after failing to climb steps to the venue of her court case where she was scheduled to answer to charges of attempting to kill Chiwenga.

FAKE NEWS: Marry Mubaiwa is still alive and not dead

Mubaiwa applied for the exception of the charges saying the Zimbabwe courts had no jurisdiction over the alleged crime which occurred in neighbouring South Africa.

Mtetwa asked Magistrate Chakanyuka to deliver her ruling on Mubaiwa’s application saying her client was seriously ill and could not make it to the courtroom from her vehicle that was parked outside. Prosecutor George Manokore did not oppose Mtetwa’s application to assess Mubaiwa’s health condition, but Chakanyuka proceed to issue a warrant of arrest for the ex-wife of the Retired General. Mtetwa gave in to emotions and broke down during a media interview and openly cried for Mubaiwa’s justice.

“What kind of justice is this of issuing a warrant of arrest to a woman who can’t even go to the toilet?” lamented Mtetwa.

Mtetwa told Zimbabwe Observer that they shall be launching another court bid to allow her to travel to South Africa for medication.

“We’re bringing yet another application to allow her to travel to South Africa,” said the renowned human rights law eagle, Mtetwa.

Mtetwa also dismissed speculations that Mubaiwa passed away as “fake news.”
