Job Sikhala’s poisoning scare in Chikurubi

The incarcerated CCC firebrand politician is feared to have been poisoned at Chikurubi Maximum Prison.

Sikhala’s friend Hopewell Chin’ono took to social media to announce that the Zengeza West MP was vomiting, and his lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa was invited by prison authorities to urgently bring a medical doctor to attend to him.

Sikhala’s wife confirmed to Chin’ono that the prison notified her that her husband was vomiting, and his health was deteriorating fast.

Mtetwa told Zimbabwe Observer in an interview from South Africa that she received such a request. The Advocate added that Sikhala’s regular medical doctor was out of Harare but she managed to secure the services of an alternative doctor who is currently attending to the detained legislator.

“I am currently in SA-been trying to coordinate attendance by a Dr but his regular Dr is out of town. All I’ve received is the request to send in a Dr & hopefully the one we’ve found will be able to attend,” said Mtetwa.

Sikhala’s lawyer said she has no details of circumstances surrounding the sudden deterioration of Sikhala’s health.

“As someone who has not seen him, I can’t say what happened,” she added.

Sikhala’s wife confirmed to Zimbabwe Observer that her husband was vomiting and nursing a running stomach.

“Ehe, he is in pain running stomach and vomiting,” said Mrs Sikhala in an exclusive interview with Zimbabwe Observer. Mrs Sikhala said she did not see him as he was too weak to walk to the visitor’s foyer adding that he has not yet received any medical attention.

Sikhala has been in detention since 14 July together with a colleague Godfrey Sithole and 13 others for allegedly inciting violence in Nyatsime following the death of a CCC member, Moreblessing Ali.
