Zanu PF thug boasting for killing CCC supporter
A man who allegedly killed an opposition activist in Zimbabwe has been identified as Courage Kutira, a supporter of the ruling ZANU-PF party. Kutira was filmed bragging about the murder of Tinashe Chitsunge, a member of the Citizens Convergence for Change (CCC) party, in a video that went viral on social media. He also claimed that the police would not arrest him for his actions.
The incident took place on Thursday, when Chitsunge and other CCC supporters were campaigning in Harare ahead of the local government elections. According to witnesses, Kutira and other ZANU-PF thugs attacked the opposition group with stones, sticks and knives, leaving Chitsunge dead and several others injured.
The CCC condemned the killing and called for justice for Chitsunge and his family. The party also accused the ZANU-PF of using violence and intimidation to silence its critics and opponents. The police have not yet commented on the case or confirmed any arrests.
The ZANU-PF has been in power in Zimbabwe since 1980, and has faced allegations of human rights violations, corruption and electoral fraud. The party’s leader, Emmerson Mnangagwa, won the disputed 2018 presidential election, which was challenged by the main opposition party, the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC). The CCC is a new political formation that aims to challenge the ZANU-PF’s dominance and bring about democratic change in Zimbabwe.
