Biti, Mahere and other 17 CCC officials also on the hit list
Zimbabwean police have unmasked a plot to assassinate opposition firebrand leader Nelson Chamisa, including senior officials in his now popular Citizens’ Coalition for Change Party.
Speaking to AFN news today, police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed receiving a “tip off”, but could not divulge more details.
However, details emerging from reliable sources confirmed that CCC president, Nelson Chamisa, his deputy Tendai Biti and former spokesperson Fadzai Mahere are part of the 17 officials on the “hit list”. The ruling Zanu PF’s shadowy organization, the FAZ is thought to be behind these assisination plots.
One official who claimed to be a member of the feared Central Intelligence Organization has narrated in confidence, how FAZ had previously successfully hatched a plot to kill the 45 – year old opposition leader in February this year. According to the official, the President, Emmerson Mnangagwa, rolled back the plot as he believed it could cause a serious regional and international backlash.
However, it is believed that the new plot is now “fully hatched” and waiting for approval from ‘above’. The police could not confirm if anyone has been arrested or will be, in connnection with this sinister plot.
Ruling Zanu PF suffered a severe setback, when its supposed victory failed to attract endorsements from regional, continental and global bodies.
