Renowned Zimbabwe journalist Hopewell Chin’ono has reported that Sengezo Tshabangu and his team have reached out to senior Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) MPs seeking to resolve their dispute amicably.

Tshabangu and his team have delayed replacing proportional representation MPs because they have said that their intention is not to do a Douglas Mwonzora on CCC, but to force Nelson Chamisa to return the party to constitutionalism

Some of the leaders who were approached by Tshabangu’s team confirmed that Tshabangu’s lawyer also reached out to them suggesting an amicable settlement that doesn’t destroy CCC or allow ZANUPF to benefit from the internal discord

Both sides refused to make any official confirmation to Zimbabwe Observer supposedly as the discussions are at an infantile level.

Their main demands are a return to the leadership elected at the Gweru Congress, a return to constitutionalism and an accountable leadership which is guided by the party’s constitution .

Nelson Chamisa, on the other hand, insists that CCC is a new party without elected leaders except himself and the ones he has appointed The situation has caused internal discord within the party, with some leaders accusing Chamisa of being dictatorial

The Speaker of the National Assembly and the Local Government Minister have acted on Tshabangu’s letters to recall MPs and councillors while Chamisa’s plea to reverse the recalls was ignored .

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has already proclaimed December 9, 2023 as the date for by-elections to replace the recalled MPs .

The situation remains tense as both sides continue to hold their ground. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
