Masarira catches husband in bed with daughter

BATTERED: Linda Masarira nursing a bruised eye after the assault

In the bustling city of Harare, a tale of scandal and shock unfolded. The protagonist of our story, Linda Masarira, a leader of the Labour, Economists and African Democrats, found herself in a situation that would make even the most seasoned soap opera writers blush.

Imagine the scene: Linda, returning home on an unsuspecting Sunday evening, hears the unmistakable sounds of passion emanating from her daughter’s locked bedroom. The culprits? Her own husband, Bongani Mlotshwa, a spry 29-year-old, and her 22-year-old daughter, Kupakwashe.

In a fit of rage, Linda, armed with nothing but her fury, managed to break down the door. What she found would have made Adam and Eve blush. Her daughter, clad only in a towel, and her husband, in his birthday suit, caught in the act. A brawl ensued, and Linda ended up with a shiner that would make a boxer proud.

The law was not on Bongani’s side. Convicted of assault, he was sentenced to 15 months in the slammer, with a chance of parole after 10 months and 350 hours of community service. A small price to pay for his transgressions, some might say.

But wait, there’s more! This isn’t the first time Zimbabwean mothers who’ve chosen younger partners have found their husbands’ eyes wandering to their daughters. In the late 90s, Mwendakanyi Chibindi, a vocalist for the late musician Oliver Mtukudzi, discovered her live-in lover, Joel Gazi Mafema, had fathered her daughter’s two children. When Mwendakanyi passed away in 2003, her daughter, Rudo, was barred from the funeral by her own family.

And what of Mafema, the father of Rudo’s children? He left for greener pastures, leaving Rudo and her children behind.

So, dear reader, let this be a lesson. In the game of love and family, it’s always wise to keep an eye on the ball. Or in this case, your husband.
