MBERENGWA — For ravishing a neighbour’s wife, a Mberengwa man was bitten by a snake at their bushy love nest – forcing the adulterous woman to yell for help, attracting the attention of an unsuspecting passers-by.

Edmore Marongwe and Chiedza Mazvimbakupa, both married and from Gwarimba Village under Chief Chingoma in Mberengwa,  nicodimously sneaked out of their homes to a secluded bushy spot for a steamy afternoon romp which turned horribly wrong.

In the heat of the moment, a snake interrupted their glorious moment by biting Edmore, sending him writhing with pain.

Chiedza forgot she was having an adulterous romp and let out a loud scream which attracted a passer-by, who turned out to be Edmore’s saviour.

The passer-by, who refused to be identified, quickly administered herbs to  Edmore, who was only in his underwear, to treat the bite.

The interruption by the unidentified venomous snake came late though, as three used condoms – all with contents – were strewn all over the place.

When it dawned on Chiedza how much trouble she was in, she grovelled to the passer-by to keep the matter under wraps.

“She knelt down and begged me not to tell her husband,” said the passer-by. “She said she didn’t know what had gotten into her head.”

The passer-by, however, told her husband.

Chiedza’s husband, Mazvimbakupa, said he had for a long-time suspected Edmore was grazing on his ‘Garden of Eden’ but did not have the evidence. Now, he has reported the matter to Chief Chingoma, demanding six cattle from Edmore as compensation for stealing what should be exclusively his.

The matter will be heard when Micklot Dziva, the current Chief Chingoma, convenes his court.

Edmore refused to confirm or deny the story but said his personal life had nothing to do with newspapers. “This is my personal life and shouldn’t be discussed with newspapers”.

Chiedza could not be reached for comment.

A Mberengwa n’anga, Mitiyavo Zhou, said the two were trapped by a muti called rutambo.

“There is a common muti used to trap  cheating wives. This muti, called rutambo, is put on the woman’s clothes. So, it turned into a snake when the two were enjoying sex,” said Zhou.
