Zuma heading back to prison to complete sentence
The Constitutional Court on Thursday ruled that former president Jacob Zuma’s release from prison on medical parole was unlawful. The ConCourt dismissed the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) application challenging the Supreme Court of Appeal ruling that Zuma returns to prison to complete his 15-month sentence for contempt of court12.
Zuma was released on medical parole on 6 September 2021 a little over two months after he was ordered imprisoned on contempt charges1.
The DCS said it was “studying the Constitutional Court judgment for the review application in relation to the medical parole placement for the former President, Mr. Jacob Zuma”1.
